This is the year for exotics in handbags, so we couldn’t resist this unique 1970s vintage evening clutch, crafted from genuine eel skin leather in rich tones of cognac and deep chestnut brown. The eel skin is highlighted by vertical pleating across the front and back body panels. The silhouette is anchored by a polished gold-tone metal hinged top frame crowned by a marbled transparent cherry-red lucite bar clasp. A smooth kiss/tension release mechanism opens to a chocolate-brown interior that contains a center zip compartment, side bill pockets, and ruched elastic vanity slots for organized evening carry.
This distinctive mid-century eel skin piece is preserved in very good condition (just missing an interior zipper pull; zipper still operates normally), exhibiting smooth leather suppleness and clean interior compartments. The bag is accompanied by a white satin protective storage pouch. An authenticator verified the natural dorsal stripe pattern, fine micro-grain striations, and uniform vertical paneling characteristics of genuine marine Congor eel skin.
